    On July 27, 2022, the Singapore FoodAuthority announced that Topstar Trading Pte Ltd and its owner Tiong Lee Chian were each fined US$5,000 for illegally importing fresh vegetables
     
    On March 23, 2021, officials from the Singapore Food Authority found 250kg of undeclared and under-declared fresh vegetables in an importer's shipment from Malays.
    The illegal goods have been confiscat.
     
    The Singapore Food Authority stated that the illegal import of vegetables of unknown origin would pose a food safety ri.
    All food imported into Singapore must meet the requirements of the Food Authority and food safety standar.
    Only licensed importers can import food, and each shipment must be declared and accompanied by a valid import perm.
    Illegally importing fresh fruit and vegetables is punishable by fines of up to $10,000 or up to three years in prison upon convicti.
