The identification of DNA sequence differences is the basis for the analysis of important biological characteristics.
Under the guidance of researcher Han Yupeng, Dr. Ma Baiquan of the Fruit Tree Molecular Breeding Group of Wuhan Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences simplified genome sequencing of 30 apple species resources and obtained 39,635 single base polymorphism points (SNPs) evenly distributed on apple chromosomes.
Genetic studies based on these SNPs show that the genetic diversity of wild apple species is significantly higher than that of cultivated apples, and there is a two-way gene flow between cultivated varieties and wild species; Analysis can achieve the fine positioning of apple genes, cultivated apples and apple wild species chain imbalance area (LD block) are different, and the majority of cultivated apples LD block is located in the fruit quality characteristics QTL interval, revealing that fruit quality in the process of apple domestication has been selected.
the study was funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (31420103914 and 31372048), and the results were published in the form of cover papers in Journal of Integrative Plant biology.
