Agrochemical Network Chinese website reported: Sipcam Nichino recently revealed to AgroPages exclusively that the company will launch the Japanese company Nihon Nohyaku (Nichino) patented insecticide OHKAMI in Brazil in November .

According to the manufacturer, the product has been registered by the official agency and allowed to enter the market
    .
Relevant data prove that the product can effectively control the most challenging and destructive pest of tomato production in Brazil , Tuta absoluta, and this pest will also be the only biological target of OHKAMI in Brazil
    .

Researchers from the technical department of Sipcam Nichino emphasized that OHKAMI has a unique insecticidal mechanism for the tomato armyworm in Brazil
    .
The product contains the active ingredient Tolfenpyrad , which has a contact effect
    .

Sergio Camargo of Sipcam Nichino's Market Development Department said: "In field trials, we found that this product has a control rate of nearly 100% against tomato armyworm populations from different parts of the country
    .
    "

Camargo added: “The use of Tolfenpyrad in accordance with technical guidelines can prevent pests from developing cross-resistance, because the active ingredients contained in the product have not been used on Brazilian tomato crops
    .

He emphasized that another relevant factor for OHKAMI's effective control of tomato armyworm is its combination of adult, larvicidal and ovocide properties in its formula
    .

Experts also pointed out that tomato armyworm occurs all year round, especially during the driest period
    .
Adult females lay eggs on tomato leaves, stems and fruits
    .
After three to five days, the caterpillar hatches and begins to feed on the plant and its fruit
    .

Researchers pointed out that if left uncontrolled, this pest can cause 70% to 100% yield loss
    .
Its reproductive ability is also very strong, each female can lay 55 to 130 eggs in 10 days
