On January 10, South Korea's SK Innovation, through its subsidiary SK Geo Centric (SKGC), and PureCycle, an American plastic recycling company, reached an agreement on the construction of a polypropylene (PP) chemical recycling plant

In August last year, the two companies signed a memorandum of understanding on this matter to start the cooperation of the two parties in the PP recycling business in Asia

SKGC said that at present, there are "three core technologies" for the chemical recycling of plastics, namely the "pyrolysis oil" technology that heats waste plastics to obtain raw materials such as naphtha, and the "pyrolysis oil" technology that chemically decomposes contaminated plastic bottles and clothing for recycling.
