Sinochem News on July 19th, Solvay announced that it has successfully developed a new generation of emergency polymerization inhibitor-phenothiazine LVT 2330, designed to quickly inhibit acrylic acid, acrylate, methacrylic acid and methyl methacrylate Such monomers are polymerized out of control in bulk storage facilities, transportation tanks and container tanks
.
The product is supplied to the global market
According to reports, the heat generated by uncontrolled polymerization may cause fires, explosions, or rupture of closed storage and transportation containers, putting personnel, property, and the environment at major risks
.
To this end, Solvay launched a new phenothiazine (PTZ) LVT 2330
Solvay Technical Service and Development Manager Dave Vanzin said: "It was developed as an alternative to N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP), a solvent for short-stop polymerization inhibitors widely used in the United States and the European Union
.
NMP has been developed by the European Union.
Vanzin said that Solvay's phenothiazine LVT 2330 is safer than NMP-containing solutions during operation, and has a lower freezing point, which is very beneficial for facilities and transportation in cold climates.
