    South Korea provides 5 billion shillings to Tanzania for the development of edible oil industry

    According to a report by the "Mainichi Shimbun" on June 8, the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) provided 5 billion tan shillings to the Tanzanian government to expand the production of oil crops such as sunflower seeds and help solve the shortage of edible oil in Tanzania .
    At the end of May, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Tanzania introduced in the parliament that the current annual demand for edible oil in Tanzania is about 500,000 tons, and the domestic output is only 200,000 tons.

    The Tanzanian government plans to spend 10.
    6 billion tans in the 2021/2022 fiscal year to expand the production capacity of Tanzanian seed crops, including improving sunflower seed planting technology and encouraging more farmers to plant oil palm trees.
    The goal is to increase domestic cooking oil in the next two years.
    The production capacity is increased to 400,000 tons .
    It is understood that international organizations such as UN Women and UN Population Fund have also participated in the edible oil production assistance project led by the Korea International Cooperation Agency .
