South Korean government unveils new energy plan

Recently, the newly elected President of South Korea, Yoon Sek-yue, announced his new energy plan

Under the new government's energy policy direction, South Korea's dependence on fossil fuel imports will fall to below 70 percent by 2030, from 81.

To help reduce fossil fuel consumption, South Korea will increase the share of nuclear energy in the country's power mix from 27.

Yoon's energy policy also proposes that the South Korean government will continue to provide freight subsidies to local refiners buying crude oil from outside the Middle East to reduce its heavy reliance on Persian Gulf crude

In addition, the South Korean government will also promote the formulation of a special law on energy security to ensure the security of oil, natural gas, hydrogen, uranium and other energy sources
