South Korea's imports of frozen mackerel increased by 82% year-on-year in October

South Korea imported 508 tons of frozen mackerel in October 2020, up 82% from 279 tons in the same period last year, and imported 5,542 tons in the first 10 months of this year, up from 3,505 tons in the same period last year, FiS said.
547 tonnes in October 2015-2020, a 7% decrease over the same period this year.
frozen mackerel comes mainly from 14 countries and regions, including Argentina, the United States, Japan, Uruguay, China, New Zealand, Norway, Chile and Canada.
In the first 10 months of this year, imports to Argentina amounted to 3,286 tons; imports to the United States to 1,031 tons; imports to Japan to 257 tons; imports to Uruguay to 246 tons; imports to China to 204 tons and imports to New Zealand to 200 tons; imports to Norway to 135 tons; and imports to Chile to 91 tons.
canadian frozen mackerel is exported at $7.35 per kilogram and in China at $2.25.
imports of frozen mackerel in South Korea rose 135 per cent year-on-year to $2.09 million in October, compared with an average price of $4.12 per kilogram in October, up 29 per cent from $3.20 a year earlier.
