    South Korea's Lotte Mart plans to cut single-use plastic use in half by 2025

    Lotte Mart, one of South Korea's largest supermarket chains, said on Monday it plans to cut its use of single-use plastics by 50 percent by 2025 and will set guidelines for using recycled materials in its branded products,media reported

    Lotte Mart also said it plans to reduce food waste in stores by 30 percent by 2025, and plans to increase the number of stores with solar power systems installed to 60 by 2021, up from 39 now

    Greenpeace Seoul welcomed the move as "an important step forward" and urged the company to apply the same standard to its dozens of stores in Vietnam and Indonesia
