    Spanish telecommunications service provider Movistar has announced the launch of non-standalone (NSA) 5G networks
    in parts of Spain on September 1.

    The network utilizes 3.
    5GHz spectrum as well as reallocated 1800MHz and 2100MHz frequencies

    The telcos said that looking ahead, 75% of the population is expected to have access to the new platform

    Telefónica noted that the 5G rollout will coincide
    with the gradual shutdown of 2G and 3G networks.
    3G networks will be completely decommissioned
    by 2025.
    The telco added that it wants to completely replace its fixed copper network with fiber by 2025, which would be pushed back to the previously proposed 2020 deadline
