Recently, from the Chinese Academy of Sciences Wuhan Botanical Garden Botanical Chemistry Biology Group of research further proved that spicy wood has a sugar-lowering, fat-lowering function.
, also known as the drumbed tree, is a perennal deciduous tree for the spicy wood. Spicy wood is rich in vitamins, protein, amino acids and calcium, potassium, iron and selenium and other nutrients, has a wealth of health care value. In 2012, China's former Ministry of Health approved spicy wood leaves as a new resource food. As a result, people pay more and more attention to spicy wood leaves, but there is still a lack of in-depth study of its sugar-lowering, fat-lowering effect and its corresponding active ingredients.
researchers studied the sugar-lowering, fat-lowering activity and its associated active ingredients in spicy wood leaves from Kenya, Africa. In vitro enzyme inhibition activity showed that spicy wood leaf extract rich in flavonoids significantly inhibited alpha-glucosinase (alpha-glucosidase) and pancreatic lipase, the key enzymes in carbohydrate and lipid metabolism, respectively. At the same time, spicy wood leaf extract can not only significantly promote the absorption of glucose, but also significantly regulate the relevant bio-chemical indicators of fat metabolism in cells, so as to better play the sugar-lowering, fat-lowering activity. Using alpha-glucosidase and pancreatic lipase as key targets, using affinity and ultrafiltration mass spectrometrometromet technology, the researchers also screened and identified several functional ingredients with potentially sugar-lowering and fat-lowering activity in spicy wood leaf extracts. The analysis shows that the above-mentioned functional compounds can form hydrogen bonds with some amino acid residues in alpha-glucosidase, and form hydrogen bonds with some amino acid residues in pancreatic lipase, thus enhancing the binding ability of active small molecules to bio-target molecules.
This study is the first to show the significant sugar-lowering and fat-lowering activity of spicy wood leaves in Kenya, Africa, as well as their potential functionally active chemicals, confirming that spicy wood leaves are natural drugs with good potential for sugar-lowering and fat-lowering activity.
