Recently, the State Grid science and technology project - "± 1100 kV UHVDC transmission converter valve development and demonstration application", successfully passed the technical acceptance work
organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the State Grid.
The completion of this achievement has further consolidated China's technological leading position
in the field of international HVDC transmission.

The project of "Development and Demonstration Application of ±1100 kV UHVDC Converter Valve" was established in 2012, led by the State Grid Smart Grid Research Institute, and jointly researched and developed
by Tsinghua University and North China Electric Power University.
After scientific research, the project has overcome the problems of parasitic parameter extraction under high electrical stress, overvoltage distribution calculation, and multiple valve test implementation, and successfully developed the world's first prototype of "±1100 kV/5500 ampere HVDC converter valve", and completed the test capacity building
    .

It is reported that the results of the "Development and Demonstration Application of ±1100 kV UHVDC Converter Valve" project will further consolidate China's technological leadership in the field of international HVDC transmission, lay a technical foundation for the implementation and promotion of the ±1100 kV ultra-large transmission capacity DC project, promote the optimal allocation of China's power energy and the development of smart grid, and provide technical support
for the construction of the global energy Internet.
