Statistics: South Korea's imports of nutritional health care products increased by an average of 21% annually in the past three years

SEOUL, Feb. 12 (Yonhap) -- Imports of nutritional health care products (also known as functional foods) have grown at an average annual rate of 21.4% in the past three years, accounting for 33.8% of the industry as a whole, according to a recent data released by South Korea's Food and Drug Safety Service.
by product item, imports of integrated nutrients ranked first for the third consecutive year, with imports of 3509 tons last year, accounting for 17.7% of total imports of health care products.
was followed by low-poly lactose (3,288 tonnes) for intestinal health, EPA and DHA health products (1984 tonnes) and nutrients for blood circulation and memory. Functional compound health products (1648 tons) and protein powder (1337 tons).
