Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is an autoimmune disease with high morbidity and mortality characterized by fibrosis of the skin and internal organs

The researchers searched PubMed, Embase, The Cochrane Library, Web of Science, OVID, China National Knowledge Infrastructure and Wanfang Database until February 1, 2021

Nine studies were included, including 133 patients with SSc

Taken together, the results of this study show that mesenchymal stem cell therapy can improve skin thickening, lung function, and mouth opening in patients with SSc, and relieve finger ulcers and pain without serious adverse events
