Strengthening Hydrogenated Oil Management in Hong Kong Region of my country

In order to be consistent with the current international standards and practices, the Hong Kong government of China recently issued the Food and Drugs (Composition and Labelling) (Amendment) Regulation 2021, which stipulates that prepackaged foods containing hydrogenated Oils must be marked accordingly in their ingredient lists

The requirements for hydrogenated oil mainly include, if the food consists of or contains hydrogenated oil: (a) the ingredient list must contain a reference to "hydrogenated oil"; or (b) the name of the oil as shown on the ingredient list, Must be modified by the word "hydrogenated"

China's "National Food Safety Standard for Prepackaged Food Nutrition Labeling General Rules" (GB28050-2011) stipulates that when hydrogenated and (or) partially hydrogenated oils and fats are contained in food ingredients or are used in the production process, it is required to be mandatory in the nutritional composition table.

Previously, Hong Kong has issued relevant documents such as "Reducing Trans Fat in Food" and "Guidelines for Replacing Industrial Trans Fat in Food", advocating reducing the content of trans fat in food during the production process, and encouraging products that contain the least saturated fat.

In addition, Singapore, Thailand, Canada and other countries have issued relevant regulations to prohibit the import and use of partially hydrogenated oils
