In this prospective study, the researchers used the depression subscale of the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale to repeatedly test 270 patients with their first stroke within 4 weeks to 6 months after the stroke.

The incidence of depression at 6 months after stroke (Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale-D score>7) was 19.

It can be seen that the left ventrolateral prefrontal cortex disease increases the risk of post-stroke depression symptoms.
