Recently, the Queensland Council of Australia revealed that it has confirmed receipt of a planning application
from Sunshine Energy Australia to provide battery storage for a 1.
    5GW solar plant.

The Somerset Regional Council said the plant would be extended
2,055 hectares east of Harlem along the DeGirar Highway.

The Mayor of Somerset said: "This is a complex development application made up of Ethos Urban planning consultants who represent Sunshine Energy Australia on other large infrastructure projects
    in Australia.
This application has been submitted to various government departments and agencies for comment, and we will carefully evaluate it
against our planning proposal, just like any other proposal.

The plant will be close to the existing high-voltage grid, which is also close to the city of
    Brisbane.
A 570MW pumped storage plant in Splityard Creek is still an hour's drive
    away.

It is understood that this solar project is the largest solar project
    currently under construction in Australia.
