In September 1998, the high-yield natural gas flow was obtained from the test of Well Kela 2 in the Tarim Oilfield, which marked the birth of the largest high-quality integrated gas field in China at that time, the Kela 2 gas field, and directly contributed to the landmark project of the western development—the West-East Gas Pipeline Construction of works

On October 1, 2004, the entire West-East Gas Pipeline Project was completed and put into operation, and the main energy artery that traverses the country from east to west was born, pushing China to enter the "natural gas age" in an all-round way

As one of the main gas sources of the West-East Gas Pipeline, Tarim Oilfield always regards ensuring national energy security and stable gas supply as its primary task, and continues to advance to ultra-deep and complex fields, challenging world-class exploration and development such as ultra-deep, ultra-high temperature and ultra-high pressure.
