    The National Congress on Iodine and Thyroid Disease has been held every two years since 2014. The theme of the first National Iodine and Thyroid Disease Conference, held in Beijing in 2014, was "China's Iodine Deficiency Disease Strategy Seminar" and the second National Iodine and Thyroid Disease Conference was held in Harbin in 2016 on the theme of inheriting, reforming and sustaining the elimination of iodine deficiency disease. Participants included representatives of the National Health and Health Commission's CDC, provincial health and planning committees, CDC, local disease centers, nutrition societies, endocrine societies, local disease societies, and relevant foreign experts and scholars.
