Ultra-high voltage power cable laying project site
The 400KV XLPE UHV power cable laying project will be settled in Singapore
.
On July 26, Furukawa Electric announced that the company obtained a 400KV XLPE ultra-high voltage power cable laying project
from Singapore Power Company.
It is reported that this is the largest project
of 400KV XLPE ultra-high voltage power cable applied for the first time in Singapore.
The order value is approximately JPY 14 billion, and the order is scheduled to be completed
in March 2019.
Entertainment facilities such as large casinos and Universal Studios are being built in Singapore, and electricity demand is skyrocketing
as tourists increase.
Considering the issue of tourism, the country attaches great importance to the construction of
urban landscape.
Therefore, instead of using cheap overhead transmission cables like other Southeast Asian countries, they built transmission grids
through underground transmission cables.
It is reported that the 400KV XLPE ultra-high voltage power cable obtained by Furukawa Electric this time is about 115 kilometers
long.
The construction
was jointly completed by the company and its wholly-owned subsidiary in Singapore, Furukawa Electric Engineering Singapore.
Furukawa Electric is the only Japanese cable company that has set up a local corporation engineering base in Singapore and has the qualification to participate in large-scale public works bidding (L6), and directly employs competent engineers locally, and implements integrated management
from order acquisition to project completion.
It has an absolute market share in the field of ultra-high voltage cables above 230KV in Singapore, contributing to the country's power supply and is highly recognized
by Singapore Power Company.
In the past, Singapore used to lay cables directly underground, but now a total length of 35 km of cable tunnels
is being built.
The cable tunnel is expected to be completed
in the second half of 2017.
In the tunnel, a large number of ultra-high voltage power cables will be laid mainly on the 400KV XLPE ultra-high voltage power
cables used this time.
