5/2013 , the Macao Special Administrative Region Government has formulated a draft of the Administrative Regulations on the Standards for the Use of Sweeteners in Foods to guide and regulate the use of sweeteners by food producers and operators , To avoid its use in food or add substances that have not passed the safety assessment.
In the process of formulating relevant standards, the SAR government comprehensively considers the actual international and local conditions, and also fully considers the standards of the main source of origin, the national food safety standards of the People’s Republic of China and the standards of neighboring regions, as well as the sweetness of food in the Macau market.
Monitoring results of agent content.
The draft stipulates the types of sweeteners to be included in the standards, the types of foods allowed to use sweeteners and their maximum usage, as well as the conditions that should be met when using them.
The draft proposal will take effect the day after its publication.
