    November 15, 2014, a high-level consultation seminar on the Nutrition Improvement Regulations was held at the Kaiyuan Hotel in Beijing. Important leaders and well-known experts from the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, the National People's Congress Law and Industry Commission, the National Policy and Safety Commission, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Education, the Legal Affairs Office of the State Council, the Food and Nutrition Development Research Institute of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Food and Agriculture Administration Department of the General Administration of Food and Drug Administration, the Academy of Sciences of the State Food Administration, the Chinese Academy of Administration, the Legal Affairs Office of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of Beijing, the Chinese Society for Preventive Medicine, the National Health and Planning Commission and the Disease Control Bureau were invited to attend the meeting. The meeting was also attended by leaders and nutrition experts from the Institute of Nutrition.The
    meeting was chaired by Chairman Yang Yuanxin of the Chinese Nutrition Society, and first of all, Academician Wang Yude and Director Li Guanglin delivered an important speech, stressing the importance and urgency of nutrition legislation and expressing the hope that the participating experts would work together to promote the early promulgation of nutrition laws and regulations. Professor Yin Fengying introduced the background of the Nutrition Improvement Regulations and the nutritional legislation at home and abroad, and Deputy Director Zhang Bing reported on the framework and content of the draft Nutrition Improvement Regulations.
