According to the latest news from the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Institute of Agricultural Resources and Agricultural Planning's Intelligent Agricultural Innovation Team, in collaboration with the University of Technology in Madrid, Spain, the University of Science and Technology in Sweeben, Australia, and the Chinese Academy of Inspection and Quarantine Sciences, has proposed a blockchain-based food traceability framework to enhance the credibility of the food trade between China and the European Union. The research was published online in Food and Energy Security.
, a member of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and a researcher at the Institute of Planning, said that food trade has become an important factor in meeting global food demand. However, in many countries and regions, there is still a lack of credible traceability systems for the cross-border movement of food. Blockchain is essentially a distributed public ledger, technical features include de-centralization, de-trust, collective maintenance, reliability, etc. Previously, the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences has organized experts to put forward the blockchain agricultural application technology initiative, and agricultural products retrospective blockchain as the primary development task.
team has been focusing on the application of blockchain technology in agricultural product traceability and agricultural resource management. Taking the food trade between China and the European Union as an example, this study designs a conceptual framework, analyzes the characteristics of real logistics, data flow and blockchain flow by making full use of the existing traceability system of both sides, takes into account the data capacity and data privacy level, adopts the hybrid data storage method combining chain and chain, and designs an intelligent contract based on export data recording, detection data recording and verification, traceability query tracking, etc., and proposes an interactive framework based on blockchain. A blockchain-based credible traceability framework enhances bilateral confidence in cross-border food trade and provides important guarantees for the sustainable development of international food trade within a bilateral or multilateral framework.
