Bangladesh's Financial Express reported on January 6th that Bangladesh's tax authorities were reviewing taxes on rice and onion imports to ensure a reasonable price for such goods in bangladesh's domestic market.
The Bangladesh Tax Bureau intends to levy a 5% adjustment tax on imported onions in order to reduce imports and protect the interests of onion growers in Bangladesh, and to issue decrees on imported rice to reduce taxes on rice imports, in line with the relevant initiatives of the Bangladesh Food Sector.

currently, Bangladeshi rice import tariff rate is 62.5%.
Meng Tax Bureau has no plans to reduce import duties on edible oil, but plans to implement a single link of edible oil to impose a withholding value-added tax measures, change the previous multi-link collection of withholding value-added tax, in order to reduce its tax burden.
