Google Argentina revealed that Tannat, the transatlantic submarine cable system connecting Brazil and Uruguay, will extend from its landing in Uruguay in Maldonado to the nearby Argentine coastal city of Las Toninas, which is located in the province
of Buenos Aires.

The new submarine cable landing site will be launched
in conjunction with Uruguayan operator Antel and Alcatel Submarine Network (ASN).
The feeder is scheduled for completion
in August 2020.
The 290-kilometer Tannat submarine cable connecting Brazil and Uruguay has been in operation since 2018 and aims to complement the Monet system, connecting Santos and Fortaleza, Brazil, to Boca Raton (Florida, USA).

In May 2018, Algar Telecom (Brazil), Angola Cable (Angola), Uruguayan Telecom (Uruguay) and Google Alphabet announced that a 10,556-kilometer Monet submarine cable system connecting Boca Raton, Florida, USA, and Fortaleza and Santos in Brazil has been completed, with a total capacity of more than 64Tbps
