    According to industry insiders, the successful industrial application of C3 hydrogenation catalysts marks the next step in the field of ethylene hydrogenation by PetroChina, which has developed a full range of hydrogenation technologies for ethylene fractions


    Compared with the original imported catalyst used in the device, after using PEC-31 catalyst, the hydrogen consumption is reduced by more than 20%, and the propylene selectivity is increased by more than 10%.


    In the ethylene plant, the carbon three fractions obtained by steam thermal cracking of raw materials such as naphtha and light hydrocarbons are mainly used for the production of polypropylene and other products


    To this end, the Lanzhou Chemical Research Center of the Petrochemical Research Institute has completed the development of C3 hydrogenation catalysts after nearly ten years of technical research


    In November 2021, the C3 hydrogenation catalyst PEC-31 carried out an industrial test in Lanzhou Petrochemical's 240,000-ton/year ethylene plant.


    In the next step, the scientific research team will develop a multi-functional C3 hydrogenation catalyst product toolkit suitable for various ethylene plant conditions as soon as possible, so as to help Chinese petrochemical enterprises to improve quality and efficiency
