The South Atlantic International Submarine Cable System (SAIL) development team has completed the offshore installation
of a 6,000-kilometer transatlantic cable system.
This marked an important milestone: for the first time, two continents, Africa and the Americas, were connected to their respective landing stations in the southern hemisphere, namely Kribidi in Cameroon and Fortaleza
in Brazil.
According to the introduction, the SAIL submarine cable system has a service life of 25 years, is designed to be fast and direct, and will use 100G transmission technology to provide a design capacity
of 32Tbps through a four-fiber pair configuration.
The SAIL system is jointly invested by China Unicom through its wholly-owned subsidiaries China Unicom do Brasil Telecomunicacoes and Cameroon Telecom Camtel
.
Huawei Marine is responsible for the construction of the entire project
