Chile's Desarrollo Pais (formerly Fondo de Infraestructura) has begun looking for strategic partners for the planned Humboldt submarine cable, which aims to connect Valparaíso (Chile) with Auckland (New Zealand) and Sydney (Australia), according to local media in Chile

Patricio Rey, managing director of Desarrollo Pais, said the state-owned company "will finalize invitations to participate in the coming weeks for major operators in the sector", mainly targeting international/local companies
with experience in subsea infrastructure development.
According to reports, the initial design of the 14,810-kilometer-long Humboldt submarine cable includes 4 to 8 pairs of optical fibers with a transmission capacity of 10Tbps-20Tbps
.
Desarrollo Pais expects to announce potential partners by the end of the year and expects to complete the deployment
in early 2025.
The planned system will be owned and operated by an SPV, with Desarrollo Pais owning 25 percent

The total investment in the program is currently at $3.
