PME, a large Dutch metal pension scheme, said it would stop investing in coal producers
amid concerns that its holdings would become stranded assets.
Eric Uijen, chairman of the PME executive board, believes that coal's huge carbon footprint and social pressure for sustainable energy mean that mining companies that focus solely on coal have no future and are therefore no longer suitable for their portfolios

In the case of the Paris climate agreement, the €47 billion metalworking and electronics industry plan says coal is expected to lose its role
in energy production and steel production.
The plan has decided that the carbon footprint of its combined investments must be reduced by 25%
by 2021.

As a result, the relevant sectors have begun to actively participate in the work of energy companies, focusing on the 10 worst CO2 emitters and asking them to actively participate in the energy transition
