As HIV testing and treatment services become more and more popular around the world, people infected with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) who receive antiretroviral therapy (ART) in Latin America and the Caribbean have a significantly longer life expectancy.
The World Health Organization (WHO) put forward a "Treat All" policy recommendation in 2016, which is to treat all people living with HIV through the use of antiretroviral drugs, with a view to achieving the global goal of eradicating AIDS by 2030.
In the latest study, researchers analyzed 30,000 HIV-infected people in Latin America and the Caribbean receiving antiretroviral therapy.
The analysis also shows that over time, life expectancy in all age groups has increased.

However, in related comments, scientists reminded that it is necessary to pay attention to the challenges of the past during the new crown pandemic, and the increase in life expectancy of HIV-infected people may also be reduced due to the new crown epidemic.
