The European Investment Bank has approved a $25 million loan for CVT, a telecommunications company in Cabo Verde, to support Cabo Verde's transatlantic submarine cable connection with EllaLink, as well as 4G mobile network expansion and fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) deployments

Jose Luis Livramento de Brito, president of the Cabo Verde Telecommunications Company, pointed out that "this project will improve the connection between our island and the rest of the world, as well as improve communication
throughout the country.

Jose Luis Livramento de Brito also added: "Connecting to the EllaLink cable, obtaining an EIB loan is key
to future construction.
Cape Verde's connection to EllaLink will increase the resilience
of the archipelago's international communications.
Cabo Verde Telecom connected Cabo Verde to its first international submarine cable system, Atlantis-2, in 2000, and the company is also a partner
in WACS, a West African submarine cable that went into production in 2012.
Atlantis-2 is expected to be retired shortly after the launch of the EllaLink submarine cable system
