From SeafoodSource on October 31, the European Commission is planning to conduct another inspection of Vietnam's fisheries to check Vietnam's progress
in combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.

In October 2017, the EU issued its first yellow card to Vietnam after the European Commission deemed Vietnam was not doing enough
    to combat IUU fishing.

Since the implementation of this policy, the EU has been reviewing Vietnam's fisheries-related policies to decide which of three judgments to choose: maintaining Vietnam's yellow card status, completely banning the import of "red card" seafood from Vietnam, or removing the yellow card and restoring normal trade relations
    .

According to a statement from the Vietnamese government, Vietnam has been doing its best to implement EU recommendations, such as implementing marine protection agreements, issuing fishing licenses, and implementing a plan
to gradually reduce overall fishing in the country.

Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh called on EU member states to continue providing technical assistance to Vietnam and pledged to remove Vietnam's yellow card
