    The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has invested €100 million to support the new seven-year energy bond
    issued by Bulgaria.

    The bank's participation in the €550 million bond issuance of Bulgarian Energy Holding (BEH) will help it support key power sector reforms, restructure its balance sheet and improve the long-term financial sustainability
    of the power sector.

    The new energy bonds will be used to refinance the €500 million bond issued by BEH in 2013, which will improve the financial structure
    of the holding company.

    To date, EBRD has invested almost €3.
    9 billion in various sectors in Bulgaria in about 250 projects, with investments in the energy sector accounting for about a third
    of the bank's portfolio.
