The VBN team, led by Professor Luo Qingming of Hua zhong University of Science and Technology, Yu Hui, and Qiu Zilong, a researcher at the Institute of Neuroscience of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, analyzed the location distribution of choline-energy neurons in the whole brain and the fine morphological structure and projection map of choline-energy neurons in the whole brain at the single-cell level, based on the fully automatic micro-imaging method developed by the VBN team. The results were recently published in the U.S
    .
acetylcholine energy neurons are a group of important modulation neurons in the brain, distributed in the substrate foreblades and brain thymus and other brain regions. Choline-energy neurons release acetylcholine through their extensive axon fiber projection, regulate the neural activity of the cortical, hippocose, and cortical cortical groups, and participate in a variety of functions such as motor, sleep, and emotion and memory. The abnormal function of choline energy neurons is related to a variety of neurological diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, sleep and cognitive impairment.
Luo Qingming, Yu Hui team and Qiu Zilong task force and the United States Allen Brain Research Institute Professor Zeng Hongkui, using BPS whole brain fine imaging system in combination with fluorescent protein-specific marker choline neuron mouse model and virus marker technology, obtained the world's first complete set of choline energy neurons three-dimensional whole brain distribution map. The map contains a variety of information, such as the number of choline energy neurons in mice in each brain region, cell size and cell density, and provides anatomic reference for the functional study of choline energy neurons.
On this basis, the study also successfully reconstructed the complete morphology of 50 choline-energy neurons in the preclinical brain of mice, classified neurons based on genetic markers, connection groups and morphological parameters, and proposed a new model for the regulation of downstream brain regions by analyzing the projected brain regions of these neurons. This study provides a new reference for understanding how choline energy neurons regulate nerve activity, and also provides new enlightenment for neurons to divide subsethics. (Source: Science.com)
