    Recently, the Science and Technology Department of the State Grid Corporation of China (Smart Grid Department) organized the acceptance meeting
    of the project "Quantum Technology to Improve the Communication Security of Power System" in Beijing.
    The acceptance expert group believes that the research results of the project have reached the international advanced level in terms of quantum key distribution in power overhead optical cables and power operation environment, and the design of quantum secure communication gateways for power use, and unanimously passed the acceptance
    .

    This project is the first fundamental forward-looking research topic
    to introduce quantum communication technology into the power industry.
    The China Electric Power Research Institute and the University of Science and Technology of China have successively carried out quantum confidential communication experimental research in Changping UHVDC Test Base, Bazhou UHV Tower Test Base and Liangxiang UHV Engineering Mechanics Test Base, and established a quantum key distribution system ± 800 kV DC UHV environment, 500 kV AC UHV environment and wind vibration dancing environment, and evaluated the actual transmission performance of the quantum channels of three typical power special optical cables: OPGW, ADSS and OPPC.
    Important system design parameters are extracted to lay the foundation
    for the application of quantum technology in the power industry.

    In addition, through R&D and technical research, the project team established the first set of electric power quantum secure communication application system
    integrating quantum security gateway, quantum key distribution and quantum eavesdropping demonstration functions in State Grid Sichuan Electric Power Company.
    The system is deployed between Ziyang Electric Power Company and Xiaoshan Substation, and the system and equipment have stable operation and good performance, meet the requirements of power data encryption, and realize the seamless integration
    of quantum communication technology and power grid voice communication, data communication and video transmission for the first time.
    The research results of the project provide new methods and ideas for the establishment of higher-level power system security communication infrastructure, and have broad application prospects
