Caucasus Online, a large Georgian Internet service provider, has signed an agreement with Ciena to upgrade its 1,200-kilometer submarine cable system in the Black Sea region to increase data transmission capacity by up to
    5Tbps.

According to reports, Ciena will use its advanced GeoMesh Extreme submarine solution and high-density 100G transponder to achieve multi-protocol, low-latency Internet transmission performance, connecting Georgia and Bulgaria
on the eastern coast of the Black Sea.

As the sole owner of the Black Sea submarine cable, Caucasus Online provides a key service for regional communications, acting as the main gateway
for internet traffic from Europe to the South Caucasus and Caspian regions.

With the increasing demand for high-speed bandwidth in China, Caucasus Online is working to increase the speed and capacity of existing submarine cables to transmit data, while gaining the ability
to adjust bandwidth in real time to optimize capacity and fiber optic networks.
