Pharmaceutical e-commerce companies, which have experienced a small ups and downs, have slowed in sales growth. From July last year to June this year, the pharmaceutical e-commerce sales index was 152, up 12.5% year-on-year, but down 22.5 percentage points from the same period last year, according to the 2013-2016 China Pharmaceutical E-commerce Big Data Analysis Report released by big data company Percentage Group. "Pharmaceutical e-commerce sales slowed significantly in 2016 compared to 2013-2015, mainly due to factors such as an inadequate regulatory system, lower consumer confidence due to inadequate drug quality assurance, and higher raw material prices," said Du Xiaomon, Director of Percentage Data Science. The
report shows that while the heat of online drug purchases has declined this year compared to 2013-2014, the size of consumers has stabilized and the amount consume has continued to grow. From July 2015 to June this year, the index of the number of people buying drugs through e-commerce channels was 132, basically the same as the index of 131 in the same period a year earlier. During the reporting period from July 2014 to June 2016, the retention rate for buyers of B2C pharmaceutical e-commerce e-commerce was 7.2%. In terms of sales categories, the share of health care products in pharmaceutical e-commerce sales rose to 82.8% in the current year, with the purchase of drugs for chronic diseases such as skin, gastrointestinal and ophthalmological diseases as the focus, and the share of non-medical health care products decreased significantly. Percentage analysis that pharmaceutical e-commerce gradually separated from the non-pharmaceutical-driven sales structure, professional gradually enhanced.
According to the 2015 Statistical Analysis Report on the Operation of the Pharmaceutical Circulation Industry released by the Ministry of Commerce in June, the total sales of seven major types of pharmaceutical commodities in China last year amounted to 166.13 billion yuan, and according to incomplete statistics, the total sales of pharmaceutical e-commerce in the direct reporting system of the Ministry of Commerce last year amounted to 47.6 billion yuan. According to this calculation, the proportion of pharmaceutical e-commerce sales in the overall total sales of pharmaceutical commodities less than 3%. Du Xiaomeng said that although the current pharmaceutical e-commerce is still in the embryonic stage of development, but B2C pharmaceutical e-commerce development potential is huge.
