Neural coding refers to the process by which the brain converts external stimuli (such as vision and smell) into neuronal impulse responses.

In order to break through the above-mentioned bottleneck, the research group of Professor Huang Tiejun from the Department of Computer Science and Technology of Peking University and the National Engineering Laboratory of Digital Video Coding and Decoding Technology proposed and implemented a retinal coding model based on convolutional recurrent neural network, which can predict with high precision.

Retina structure and corresponding convolutional loop coding network

The related results, entitled " Unravelling neural coding of dynamic natural visual scenes via convolutional recurrent neural networks ", were published in " Cell Patterns , DOI " recently .

This achievement of the intersection of computer science and life science stems from the comprehensive advantages of Peking University and its interdisciplinary characteristics
