State Grid Sichuan Electric Power Company UHV Project Construction Headquarters recently revealed that 20 350-tonne Yazhong-Jiangxi ±800 kV UHV DC transmission project converter station "heart"—converter transformers have been successfully delivered for construction on site.
It is understood that the Yazhong Transmitting Converter Station is located in Yanyuan County, Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, with an altitude of 2,468 meters.
Yazhong converter transformer transportation is by far the most complicated and difficult large-scale transportation project in China.
On the road, a heavy-duty convoy carrying the 20th 350-ton "Big Mac" slowly drove towards the Yazhong Converter Station, which looked spectacular from a distance.
This is the fourth major hydropower transmission channel under construction in Sichuan Province, the "heart" of the converter station of the ±800 kV UHV DC transmission project from Yazhong to Jiangxi-the converter transformer.
However, from Xichang Railway Station to Yazhong Converter Station, it is necessary to cross the Yalong River, Mopan Mountain, a small mountain with an altitude of 3188 meters, Jiudaoguai and other places, steep slopes and sharp bends, numerous bridges and tunnels, and the short 139 kilometers is a transportation journey.

It is reported that there are a total of 28 converter transformers in the converter station of the ±800 kV UHV DC transmission project from Yazhong to Jiangxi.
