    For a long time, wildlife monitoring has been a difficult point in biodiversity monitoring, especially birds, songbugs and other animal groups
    that are not easy to detect by infrared cameras.
    Voiceprint recognition provides a new way to
    monitor these hidden animals.
    In particular, in recent years, the data accumulation of authoritative scientific databases and the wide application of deep learning in voiceprint recognition have accelerated the development of
    this field.
    The biodiversity informatics research team of the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences has long been committed to biodiversity data construction and data mining analysis, and has released a number of data products such as the Directory of Chinese Biological Species, the China Biological Map, the China Animal Theme Database and the Biological Record APP, which have been widely used and have accumulated rich experience
    in species image and sound recognition 。 Based on the authoritative directory and distribution database, the team collected and integrated animal voiceprint data, combined deep learning and ecological models for joint modeling, and built a bird-based voiceprint intelligent recognition model.
    And using the Internet of Things technology, the field pickup sensor and edge computing equipment have been developed, real-time collection of environmental sound for edge computing, real-time return recognition results to the monitoring system for analysis, forming a complete wildlife audio automatic monitoring system

    The system was first deployed in scenarios such as mobile monitoring vehicles and ground monitoring stations in Tongliao, Inner Mongolia for demonstration and verification

    Up to now, it has worked stably for more than 2,000 hours, returned nearly 10,000 effective recording data, monitored and identified more than 60 types of ambient sounds, and effectively verified
    system performance.
    In addition, the research team also provides scientific data support for the "Five Bases" collaborative ecological environment stereo remote sensing monitoring system, supports the key research and development project "Research on Intelligent Identification Technology and Application of Human Interference Activities in Important Ecological Spaces", and promotes the application
    of "Five Bases" in biodiversity monitoring.

    With the support of several projects of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the research team has deployed more than 10 sets of intelligent monitoring equipment in various typical habitats and key areas rich in biodiversity, such as Miyun District, Wenyu River Park, Yongdinghe Park and Wildlife Rescue Center in Beijing, and launched the demonstration of intelligent sensing application of
    Beijing forest and grassland system 。 Up to now, the system has collected nearly 70,000 effective sound data, monitored and recorded the sounds of more than 200 kinds of birds, which will strongly support the background investigation and long-term monitoring activities of biodiversity in these areas, and also provide a steady stream of animal sound and distribution data for the species diversity database of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and support the long-term research work
