The study collected a total of 47 populations of 23 species of loquat in China and Southeast Asia (Figure 2 ), a total of 817 individuals (including 12 species and 19 populations of the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau ), and selected 3 chloroplast fragments and 5 nuclear gene fragments Group sequencing was carried out.
At the same time, 33 representative individuals of the loquat genus were selected for shallow genome sequencing, and their chloroplast genomes and 197 single-copy nuclear genes were extracted .
Based on a series of population genetic and phylogenetic methods, the evolution history of loquat was carried out .
The results showed that: ( 1 ) Nucleocytoplasmic
conflict and chloroplast capture caused by hybridization introgression events were detected in a number of loquat species located in the tropical and subtropical transition zone of the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau ; ( 2 ) Loquat originated in the Eocene in tropical Asia, Subsequently, the strengthening of the East Asian monsoon climate and global cooling in the Miocene changed the position of the tropical and subtropical transition zone at that time , resulting in the secondary contact of a large number of species and the occurrence of interspecific hybridization and gene infiltration

This study provides a new perspective for understanding the origin of plant hybridization and diversity of paleo-climate changes in the climate transition zone

The research was jointly completed by Ma Yongpeng's research group at Kunming Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Fan Qiang, Liao Wenbo, Zhou Renchao, and Mao Kangshan's research group at Sun Yat-Sen University
