As of late October, the service life of a single batch of catalysts in Jilin Petrochemical Company's methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK) plant reached a record high of 67 months, and the cumulative production of MIBK products was 91,000 tons, exceeding the historical best level of 11,000 tons
.
For a long time, the reaction catalyst of the MIBK plant uses cation exchange resin palladium catalyst
produced by the American company.
"Imported catalysts are very expensive and need to be replaced every 10 months; Parking changes also affect product yield.
.
.
These all restrict the efficiency of the device
.
To this end, we set up a research team to focus on extending the catalyst life cycle and reducing the number of
catalyst replacements.
Sun Baodong, director of the isobutylene (hydrogenation) workshop, said
.
The research team strictly controls the quality of raw materials, strengthens process transformation, and upgrades the control of water content in raw material acetone to avoid affecting catalyst selectivity
.
By adding a regulating valve to the MIBK light-component column out-of-line pipeline, they realized the transformation
of the distillation system from batch to continuous.
At the same time, the research group strengthened the control of process indicators, so that the one-pass conversion rate of the reaction was stable at about
30%.
Aiming at the characteristics of palladium resin catalysts such as easy passivation, inactivation and crushing loss, the research group explored the operation law
of the catalyst under different stage control conditions in the early, middle and final stages.
Combined with the actual production capacity of the device, the research group optimized and adjusted many parameters such as reactor inlet temperature, shell water flow, and operating conditions of MIBK finished tower, and finally extended the service life of MIBK reaction catalyst to 67 months, and achieved remarkable
results in cost reduction and efficiency increase.
