    Lithuanian transmission system operator Litgrid said today that after less than two months of repairs, the Lithuanian-Swedish power cable NordBalt has returned to operation on Thursday, two weeks
    earlier than previously planned in late October.

    Litgrid said, "The repair work is going very well and NordBalt is back in operation
    .

    It is reported that on August 16 this year, NordBalt started repair work, involving the replacement of cable joints, which is scheduled to be completed on October 28, with a transmission capacity of 700 megawatts
    .

    Litgrid said on Tuesday that NordBalt will go live
    this Friday.
    But late Wednesday, the company notified through the Nord Pool Energy Exchange that Wednesday night repairs had been completed

    Since the NordBalt submarine cable was put into operation in February 2016, it has often suffered failures that have led to several outages

    In order to improve its operational efficiency, the repair decided to replace 22 underground cable glands on the Lithuanian side and 98 cable glands in Sweden to ensure that the HVDC submarine power cable connecting the two countries is in good operating condition
