    Virus-induced gene silencing (VIGS) is a technology developed based on the RNA-mediated antiviral defense mechanism in plants.


    On September 21, 2021, the Liu Yule Laboratory of Tsinghua University published an online publication titled "High-efficiency and high-throughput virus-induced maize gene silencing system based on pseudo-recombinant chimeric cucumber mosaic virus" in the journal Plant Physiology.


    Based on two kinds of cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) that infect corn, Liu Yule’s laboratory first obtained a pseudo-recombinant chimeric CMV (Pr CMV) through in vitro pseudo-recombination and construction of chimeric viruses, which can be highly effective.
