Recently, the Maldives-Sri Lanka submarine cable system MSC officially landed in the Maldives
.
The $22 million MSC system will connect Hulhumale, Maldives, to Montlavinia, Sri Lanka.
Lavinia, 863 km
long.
The system is deployed by a consortium of Dhiraagu, Ooredoo Maldives and Dialog AXIATA to enable international internet connectivity and improve telecom infrastructure in the region, which Huawei Marine undertook to provide a reliable regional telecommunications network
for the region.
Mohamed Maleeh Jameel, Minister of Communications, Science and Technology of the Maldives, said: "I would like to thank internet service providers for their consistent commitment
in strengthening the country's digital ecosystem.
The cable landing marks an important milestone, and I am confident that with the successful completion of this project, we are paving the way
to further strengthen the diversity of our island nation's digital infrastructure and networks.
" ”
In addition, due to the impact of the global pandemic, communities and businesses are digitizing their services to create a safer environment and continue their daily lives, which has increased the demand for higher quality internet services, making MSCs critical infrastructure
.
In addition, the project will support and prepare a nationwide network that will deliver next-generation 5G services, which will connect the Maldivian people with groundbreaking new technologies and pave the way for innovation that ultimately lays the foundation
for socio-economic development.
