In the past, Thailand and China signed two protocols on land transit through third countries for the import and export of fruits.

In response, the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives of Thailand discussed the above issues with China in November 2019 and reached a consensus on drafting a new version of the agreement, aiming to open more ports for Thai fruit exports to China .
Later, in early 2020, Thailand's National Agricultural Products and Food Standards Office and the Department of Agriculture discussed with China again to complete the drafting of the new version of the agreement .

In addition, Thailand will gain more benefits from the agreement.
The increase in fruit import and export ports in Thailand and China will allow Thai companies to have more choices in transportation routes and choose convenient and appropriate routes to reduce costs.
The transportation of crops between China and Thailand is more convenient, especially for Thai fruits with a short shelf life
.
Therefore, the increase of transportation ports will help Thai agricultural products to be delivered to Chinese provinces in a short time, which is more convenient than shipping.
This creates opportunities for farmers and helps increase the price of Thai agricultural products.
Chinese consumers will also have the opportunity to taste More Thai fruits
