The Ministry of Ecology and Environment selected 16 cities including Tangshan and Taiyuan to carry out carbon monitoring and evaluation pilot projects

On September 23, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment held a September regular press release.

The "Plan" focuses on the three levels of regions, cities and key industries to carry out carbon monitoring and evaluation pilot projects.

At the regional level, based on the existing background stations of the national environmental air quality monitoring network and ground-based remote sensing stations, combined with satellite remote sensing methods, the monitoring network is further improved, and the integrated monitoring of regional atmospheric greenhouse gas concentrations, annual changes in land use in typical regions, and ecosystem solidification are carried out.

At the city level, taking into account factors such as the city’s energy structure, industrial structure, urbanization level, population size, and regional distribution, 16 cities including Tangshan, Taiyuan, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Panjin, and Nantong are selected, which are divided into basic pilots, comprehensive pilots, and oceans.

The Ministry of Ecology and Environment will strengthen the unified organization and coordination of the pilot work, guide the orderly development of the pilot work, and organize the exchange of experience and the application of the results of the pilot work
