The Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy announced on July 21, 2020 the completion of a 5G multi-band license auction, allocating 20 years of preferential national 700MHz, 1400MHz and 2100MHz spectrum to three participants, namely existing mobile operators KPN, T-Mobile and VodafoneZiggo, for a total price of €1.

The 5G spectrum auction began on June 29, with the final allocation of 2×30MHz in the 700MHz band (previously the new mobile broadband spectrum previously allocated mainly to digital TV); 1400MHz in the "L-band" of 1400MHz (×the new spectrum can only be used with other frequencies); 2×60MHz
in the 2100MHz band.
Among them, in the 1400MHz band, KPN and VodafoneZiggo won the bid for 1×15MHz respectively, and T-Mobile won 1×10MHz
.
In the 2100MHz band, all three companies won the bid for 2×20MHz
.
According to the announcement, KPN bid for a total of 415.
87 million euros, while Vodafone Ziggo had a total price of 417.
5 million euros and T-Mobile bid 40.

The Dutch government said the new licensing agreement imposes an obligation to ensure "98% mobile coverage in every Dutch municipality" and to adhere to minimum mobile data speeds "at the periphery of the mobile network": 8Mbps in 2022 and 10Mbps

The government says the requirements will mean that the average mobile internet speed in the Netherlands exceeds 100Mbps
