On April 26, INOVIO announced that it is planning to conduct a phase 3 trial for its new crown vaccine candidate INO-4800, which is mainly carried out outside the United States.

Public information shows that INO-4800 is a candidate DNA vaccine against COVID-19, and Advaccine has the exclusive rights to the candidate vaccine in Greater China.

DNA vaccine, also known as nucleic acid vaccine or genetic vaccine, refers to the introduction of a DNA sequence encoding a certain protein antigen into a host through a vector to induce the body to produce an immune response.

INO-4800 is a candidate DNA vaccine developed by INOVIO, which can be used against the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 that causes new coronary pneumonia.

In January 2020, Ai Di Weixin and INOVIO reached a cooperation to develop INO-4800 in China.

It is reported that INO-4800 has many advantages, including: it can be stable for at least one year at room temperature, and it can be stable for at least one month at 37°C.
