Zhang Xi, director of the Polymer Subject Committee of the Chinese Chemical Society, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and president of Jilin University, said that China is a big country of polymer materials, and the domestic production and sales of plastic, fiber, rubber and other products are among the top in the world
Qiao Jinliang, a researcher at the Beijing Research Institute of Chemical Industry of China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation, said that the domestic polymer materials field is facing challenges such as white pollution, overcapacity, structural overcapacity, and high cost.
The opening ceremony also announced the 2021 Wang Baoren Award for Basic Polymer Research, the Innovation Award for Polymer Science, and the Award for Young Polymer Scholars to encourage young and middle-aged Chinese scientists to devote themselves to the basic research work of polymer science in the motherland and promote China’s polymer science.
